Special Educational Needs and Disabilities SEND

At Horton Grange Primary school, we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities.

In school, for pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), we follow relevant legislation, including part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014, The SEN Code of Practice 2015, The Special Needs (personal budgets and direct payments) regulations, section 49, The order setting out transitional arrangements, section 137, Equality Act 2010, Keeping children safe in education March 2015 and Supporting pupils at school with medical conditions 2014.

The school is committed to early identification of SEND and adopts a graduated approach which recognises that children learn in different ways and have different needs. School acknowledge that there is a continuum of special educational needs and that, where necessary, increasing specialist expertise will be called upon to advise and support on the difficulties that a child may experience.

You as parents will be heavily involved at every stage as we recognise that you are the people who know your child the best. Working together with the class teacher and Mrs Jameson, the school Special Needs Coordinator SENDCO, a plan (pupil passport) will be set up to help support your child.

Further detail about SEND in our school can be found in the schools SEND Report and SEND Policy which can be accessed by clicking the link below.
